  1. It's okay...

Posted by Scot in Hawaii on 10th Jan 2010

I was amazed how fast ProTravelGear got my purchase to me in Honolulu. Awesome!

    ACTIVE NOISE CANCELING
If the Bose QC15 is a 10 then the Plane Quiet is a 3-4. I used my car's radio set off-station to mimic airplane noise and I found the noise cancellation somewhat of a disappointment. While it was vastly better than the Sony MDR NC7 (which were utterly USELESS) I'm not sure if it is going to be worth dragging it along on my trip next month.

I am going to experiment with wearing this headset over a pair of noise isolating earbuds.

    PASSIVE SOUND REDUCTION
This is a big problem. The ear cups are thin and let a lot of sound in. I lightly covered the cups with my hands it almost doubled the noise reduction. If the headsets could just passively cut the noise it would give the electronic noise cancellation a fighting chance.

PLANE QUIET -- if you are reading this -- I would GLADLY pay more for better passive sound abatement. I would also be fine with a weight penalty for heavier construction and sound insulation. Since there is gap in competition between your price point and the Bose QC 15 GO FOR IT.

A Plane Simple solution: noise abatement instead of noise cancellation.

  2. Plane Quiet Platinum | active noise reduction headset

Posted by David O. on 2nd Apr 2009

Hi David, I received the review copy of the Plane Quiet Platinum and did my best to compare them to my Bose Quiet Comfort 2 headphones. I must say that I was very impressed with your new product. I could not discern any difference between the two -- and the ability to listen to music without using battery power is a great advantage. I have written a very favorable review and posted it here. Best wishes in marketing a great product at a great price! Sincerely, David Ourisman

  3. Great Product

These are fantastic noise-canceling headphones. I find them to be just as effective as models that cost three times as much.

  5. Review: Plane Quiet Platinum Noise-Canceling Headphones

Posted by Joel E. on 2nd Apr 2009

I’ve reviewed a bunch of noise-canceling headphones in the past, most recently the Beats by Dr. Dre. Two things I’m always listening for with noise-canceling headphones is how well they cancel out the noise around them and also whether or not they distort the sound that I’m trying to listen to. In the case of the Beats, the headphones do an amazing job of delivering the sound without distortion, but cost more than $300. Generally speaking, if you pay less than that for noise-canceling headphones, you’re going to skimp on something. For the reasons above I was skeptical of the sound quality and noise-cancellation ability of the Plane Quiet Platinum noise-canceling headphones. Thankfully, I couldn’t have been more wrong.
